California Dreamin'

Well, it's official. Robyn's going to go ahead with her plans to study at USC for the next two years. She talked it over with her teacher and several other professionals with whom she has studied, and they all agree that she should take advantage of the opportunity to keep studying and practicing her instrument while she's young and motivated. She's also talked with some students who've been at USC recently, and they've reassured her that she'll be able to find playing gigs to earn money. Whether or not she'll be able to find students to teach is the big question, but right now it's important for her to focus on performance.

We'll be going out to LA for a few days in mid-July to look for housing. She's spent a lot of time on the internet checking out "for rent" listings, looking for a garden house or garage apt. where she won't have any shared walls and thus will be able to practice any time of the day or night. There are tons of places like that in LA; we'll just have to find the right one at the right price in the right location. Wish us luck!

That sounds like a good plan! I'm happy for you all that a decision has been made. There will always be students, especially for a good teacher!

Yay! It will be fun for Robyn to be closer to Aunt Ellen and a great experience to live in California!
