After waiting out a deluge of early evening rain, we shopped at Sam's for goodies to serve at the recital reception (and ended up taking some of those to Sunday School to share with our friends after the recital got rained out).
We sat in the kitchen playing Upwords while the heavens poured forth rain at a faster pace than it fell during Tropical Storm Alison in 2001--about 6 inches per hour!
We had to eat up the cookies I'd made for the reception that wouldn't fit back into the freezer.
We went to hear the Houston Symphony play Brahms Symphony #1 with our friend, SuEllen Mooney. Unfortunately, we had to sit through the John Adams Violin Concerto in the first half in order to get to the Brahms in the second half!
We shopped at Macy's for wedding shower gifts for SuEllen's daughter, Andrea. I was one of four hostesses at a bridal shower/brunch which was held May 2.
Susan bought a new pair of shoes at DSW. I mostly followed her around the store.
I taught my usual number of oboe lessons while Susan made fresh cookies to replace the ones we'd eaten.
We actually got up EARLY one morning and went to volunteer at SEARCH (resource center for the homeless) in midtown Houston. Our task was to make sandwiches for the lunch run; we made almost 400 in about 3 hours time and bagged each one in a ziploc bag.
We went to visit Chuck and Patsy and had a delightful lunch with them. Susan especially enjoyed showing off her pictures of her grandkids!
We met Anne Moore and Susie Pokorski for lunch at a Denny's up north of town (never mind the several miles out-of-the-way detour because the highway sign calls the exit one thing and the map calls it another).
We went to see "The Soloist" at the movie theater the day that it opened. Robyn went with us to see it.
We sat in the house and watched MORE heavy rain fall and flood the intersections once again.
Susan fixed a huge bowl of chicken salad and had Alan & Bryan over for lunch while I was working all day Saturday at the local jr. high school.
We went to our South Main at Home group meeting and shared some of that chicken salad.
I volunteered Susan to play the flute on our choir anthem for Sunday morning (along with oboe, clarinet, and brass), so we played some music together.
We finally got to hear the big event--Robyn's recital--on Sunday afternoon. It was great to have several of the family members there. Chuck, Patsy, Carla, Alan, and Suzanne were all able to come and hear it.
We worked out at Curves together four times. Oh, and we played lots of Scrabble, Upwords, and Quiddler to pass the time (and yes, we used the cheat sheets!).
Susan, did I miss anything?
