Houseguests

The weather after Hurricane Ike was refreshingly cool, but the heat started to creep back in by the end of last week. Tim was still without electricity, so he took us up on our offer of hospitality and brought his new companions to stay with us for the weekend. Chuck and Mabey are big. Really big. And they don't even flinch when you walk up to them and want to step right where they are (Ginger, by contrast, jumps up at the slightest touch). It's like having two dog-shaped concrete statues on the floor, and they have an uncanny knack for being right where I want to walk! Okay, it's not all bad...they have very sweet dispositions and are well-behaved. They just have such a huge sense of entitlement to their personal space! They also prefer to be inside the house; we left them in the back yard Saturday, and Mabey tried her best to get through the gate to come back in.

Tim had to climb the fence and maneuver her hindquarters through the fence to get her free. I sure hope she doesn't try that again!

Maybe you can see in this picture that Tim decided not to shave at all until his power came back on. Well, it did get restored late yesterday, and he left the dogs here overnight so that he could do some cleaning up at his place. So I'll see this evening when he comes to get them whether or not he decided to keep the beard!
