Cold Front Coming!

"Fall" in Houston is a relative term....in many places it conjures up images of brightly colored trees setting fire to the landscape, then piles of leaves with children happily leaping into them and frustrated parents trying to manage the leaf fallout and the childrens' behavior. But in Houston, it mostly means weather that changes by a few degrees and pine straw falling from the trees.

With the amount of rain we've had this summer, the fall colors should be spectacular, but we don't get the cold weather to go along with the rain, so there really is no color to speak of. Anyway, this morning it was muggy and in the high 70's when I went to Curves to work out. I came home and took a shower, and when I stepped outside again the wind was blowing, and a cool blast of air was pushing into the neighborhood. Our neighbors put ghosts in their tree over the weekend, and the ghosts are happily dancing in the wind right now. The rain should be following shortly.

Tomorrow's high temperature is supposed to be below 70; I hope the predictions are right! And maybe one of these days it will be cool enough outside that I can wear a sweater without actually sweating (wait, why do they call it that?).

At any rate, we're going skiing in SEVEN WEEKS (but who's counting?) and are looking forward to plenty of snow and cold weather in Colorado!
