Thirty-one-derful Years Ago Today

Way back in our country's bicentennial year of 1976, a couple of fresh-faced accounting majors got married at the ripe old age of 22. Today we mark our thirty-first wedding anniversary. We haven't really changed all that much, or have we?????

In looking at the old pictures, I found a few more of folks you just might know:

I was wearing the dress that Susan wore in 1970; Carolyn wore the same dress when she married Waldie in 1983. I dare say we'd have trouble finding a dress now that the three of us could all wear!

Amy had just turned four years old and was our flower girl. Katie, just two, was blissfully unaware of the importance of the occasion.

We even had some friends from camp who surprised me by coming to the wedding:

We don't traditionally make a big deal out of our anniversary, and this year was no exception. I taught a couple of oboe lessons this afternoon, then we got some carry-out from a local grill and played spades with Robyn, who's hanging out at our house since her TV and internet are temporarily out of service.

All in all, I'd say we have no regrets, despite the wrinkles in the road along the way. Looking back, we realize how very young we were, but we're still glad we tied the knot when we did!

That's fun -- I hadn't seen those before. Nice tux, Uncle Ben! It's neat to see a picture of Katie at two now since we just had some two year olds at Amy's wedding!
