Never A Dull Moment
What can I say...Houston's schizophrenic weather has done it again. Robyn came to town last Wednesday for her fall break, and she was supposed to go back to Nashville yesterday. But yesterday turned out to be a very wet day, one of those days with lots of yellow and red on the radar, with one storm following another. We left home in the middle of a downpour around 4:30 in the afternoon and spent about 30 minutes going the first 3 miles. The intersections were filling up fast, and plenty of cars were already stalling out. But, hey, we had a flight to catch, and the airline was telling us that her flight would be on time. We took a rather circuitous route to the airport and dropped Robyn off a little after 6:00 for her 7:10 flight. It wasn't long before she called to say that they were telling her that it would not be anytime soon. During the evening, she called and updated us, each time saying that the flight was delayed again. And again. And again. Finally, around 11:15, I told her that I was going to bed. She promised not to call unless she did NOT get to board. When the phone rang at 1:15 a.m., I knew it couldn't be good news. Her flight was cancelled...and the next available confirmed seat was WEDNESDAY---that's TOMORROW---at 3:30 p.m. So I hauled out of bed and drove up to get her. She couldn't get her luggage back, so she's stuck here without so much as a hairbrush, but at least she has a comfortable bed to sleep in!
