Ringing in Time

When I was growing up in Atlanta, it was my privilege to play in a youth handbell choir at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Ever since that time, I've wished that I could play handbells again. From time to time I've filled in at a rehearsal at Central Baptist in Lexington, or even once at First Methodist in Searcy, AR (Amy's church). But I haven't really played with a bell choir since I was about 15 or 16. South Main has a wonderful handbell choir, but I've been singing in a women's ensemble called Agape for about the last twenty years, and the handbell choir rehearses at the same time as Agape. I've threatened for years to leave Agape and join the bell choir, but it took me this long to actually do it. So I've begun to ring handbells again, and this morning was my first time to play with the group in public. We are getting ready for our Baptist Heritage tour, which begins in a few days, so I've been practicing with the tour handbell choir. It's really neat because it's a mixed group of adults and youth, and a few of us haven't been ringing regularly with any group. One of the most challenging things about this assignment is that we have to sing and ring at the same time because it's a relatively small choir. That does take some concentration! Anyway, this morning's services went pretty well....I did lose my place and mess up toward the end of one piece in the early service, but I made sure to count accurately for the second service, and it came out just right.

Tim & Angie took us out for dinner for Father's Day. Bagel came over to visit Ginger while we went out, but we've learned to keep them separated when we're not around to supervise. Bagel's feeling more like herself today; she had her little operation on Friday and was pretty wiped out that evening:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to Robyn--our baby is 21!!!!Woo-hoo!!!!Cheaper car insurance!!!!
