Ski Bums
Good grief, it's been a long time since I've updated...but for a good reason! Ben and I spent last week at Beaver Creek Ski Resort in Colorado. We went there for 3 days of skiing last spring, and we liked it so much we decided to go back. This time we skied (is that a strange-looking word or what?) for 5 days in a row---it's a good thing we've both lost some weight and have been exercising regularly! The first day we went all the way to the top of the mountain and enjoyed spectacular views and wonderful snow. The rest of the week it was snowing, and although we went up top a couple more times, we spent most of our time skiing the lower runs. It seems that the snow clouds like to hang out below the peaks and reduce visibility to almost nothing....and the wind gusts nearly blew us off course a couple of times. Fortunately, Beaver Creek is connected to Bachelor's Gulch and Arrowhead, both of which have plenty of green-rated runs lower down the mountain. Ben's skill on the skis has improved dramatically! We both had a super time and looked forward to the daily hot tub soak (albeit an OUTDOOR hot tub---the hardest part was walking to the pool area and back in just a swimsuit and a towel when it's in the 20's outside!). The condo we stayed in had a loft bedroom and a 2-story tall fireplace, and we were able to fix all of our meals there. We even sat in on part of a taping session for a Food Network show. Best of all, we got home with NO BROKEN BONES this year! I didn't take many pictures, because my fingers got really cold when I took off my gloves to handle the camera, but here are a few.
